The Department of Plantation and Livestock, Central Sulawesi Province, stands as a vital government institution dedicated to supporting and advancing the plantation and livestock sectors. Established through the merger of the Plantation Service and the Livestock and Animal Health Service under Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2016, the department has since carried the responsibility of ensuring sustainability, productivity, and economic growth for farmers and breeders across the province.

Under the leadership of the provincial government, the department formulates key agricultural policies, implements programs to improve productivity, and provides technical training to farmers. Its work extends beyond planning, as it also monitors plantation health, evaluates livestock populations, and ensures food security—making it a cornerstone of Central Sulawesi’s agricultural development.

The organizational structure is designed to address various aspects of the sector. Through divisions focusing on plantation production and protection, infrastructure and processing, animal health, and livestock development, the department ensures a holistic approach. From pest and disease control in plantations, to veterinary services and food safety inspections, each division contributes to the broader mission of strengthening the agricultural economy.

Supporting its central operations are several Regional Technical Implementation Units (UPT). These include the Plantation Protection Unit, the Plantation Seed Certification and Quality Control Unit, the Livestock Breeding Unit, and the Veterinary Services Unit. Among them, the Plantation Seedling Center plays a key role in providing high-quality seedlings of perennial and seasonal crops, such as cacao, coffee, tea, cloves, and coconut. Equipped with nurseries, seed storage facilities, testing laboratories, and training centers, this unit helps farmers access certified seedlings and improve crop productivity.

With strong facilities, structured divisions, and dedicated leadership, the Department of Plantation and Livestock continues to push Central Sulawesi toward a future of sustainable agriculture. By empowering farmers with knowledge, resources, and improved seedlings, the department not only ensures food security but also strengthens the province’s position as one of Indonesia’s important contributors in the plantation and livestock sectors.
