Taripa, Sindue, Donggala - Kaoka Green Foundation took another important step toward building sustainable and environmentally friendly cocoa production in Central Sulawesi. The Kaoka Green team distributed biological insecticide and fungicide products — AHABIO BEVE WP, AHABIO META WP, and AHABIO TRICHO WP — to cocoa farmer groups in Taripa Village, Sindue Sub-District, Donggala Regency.
These bio-control products were generously donated by PT Turrima Agro Mass / Turrima Agro-Biotech (turrima.com), an Indonesian agricultural biotechnology company specializing in natural pest control, organic bio-fertilizers, and soil health enhancement. The company focuses on developing environmentally friendly solutions that help farmers reduce chemical dependency, restore soil vitality, and support sustainable agricultural productivity across Indonesia.
🌾 What Each Product Does
Each biological agent plays a unique role in improving farm resilience and productivity:
- AHABIO BEVE WP (Beauveria bassiana) acts as a bio-insecticide, infecting and controlling major cocoa pests such as cocoa pod borer (Conopomorpha cramerella) and mirid bugs (Helopeltis spp.). It helps reduce pest populations naturally without leaving harmful residues.
- AHABIO META WP (Metarhizium anisopliae) is another entomopathogenic fungus, effective against soil-dwelling insect pests. It contributes to long-term pest management and supports biodiversity in the plantation ecosystem.
- AHABIO TRICHO WP (Trichoderma spp.) functions as a bio-fungicide and plant growth promoter, suppressing pathogenic fungi like Phytophthora palmivora that cause black pod disease. It also enhances root health, nutrient uptake, and soil microbial balance.
Together, these bio-agents strengthen plant defenses, enhance soil fertility, and support a healthier, more balanced agro-ecosystem — leading to better yields and higher bean quality for farmers.
🌍 Starting the Demonstration Plot
This activity also marked the launch of a demonstration plot (demplot) in Taripa. The demoplot serves as a real-field learning site for local farmers to observe how bio-inputs can be integrated into cocoa farming.
Farmers will be trained to apply bio-agents at different crop stages, monitor pest incidence, and evaluate their impact on yield, soil health, and overall plantation sustainability.
Through this participatory approach, Kaoka Green hopes to increase farmer confidence in biological pest and disease management as a viable, cost-effective alternative to synthetic chemicals.
🌿 Towards a Regenerative Cocoa Future
By combining scientific innovation, local knowledge, and community empowerment, Kaoka Green continues to promote regenerative cocoa ecosystems that sustain both people and planet.
Collaboration with PT Turrima Agro Mass exemplifies the foundation’s belief that sustainable agriculture is best achieved through partnerships that unite technology, education, and grassroots action.
